What is Green initiatives?
The implementation of the Green-School Initiatives in Brunei Darussalam is evident for Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to guide and educate its society towards environmental protection and sustainable lifestyle. The guidebook for Initiating Green-School in Brunei Darussalam provides information on the practical implementation of green initiatives in schools and is based on the “ASEAN Guidelines on Eco-Schools”
OBJECTIVES
- Identify and recognise the achievement of schools in implementing best green practices;
- Inculcate enviromental awareness and positive behabiours towards the envoment amongst learners;
- Encourage the teaching and learning of Environmental Education in the curriculum;
- Provide opportunity to promote environmental awareness to the school community; and
- Foster a whole school community approach to keep the school environment clean and hygiene.

In order to help schools in achieving targeted outcomes, it is advisable that activities and programmes to be conducted are based on recongised green themes related to sustainable development such as:
